Graduates - earn some money & help out too

If you are a graduate, especially those doing a postgrad, why not think about registering with your university's (or the one local to you) disability service as a non-medical assistant?

these are people who provide assistance such as note-taking, reading aloud, helping in practicals etc to students with a disability.

the going rate is ~£10/hr and most unis I know of are also always short of suitable NMAs to match up to students.

you can often just do an hour or two a week if that fits in with your schedule.

plus, of course, you are really helping out students who would struggle without this help

That is good advice, Throughout my three years I did this for a fellow student on the same degree as me and not only did I get paid but I also had to ensure that I was at every lecture and took comprehensive notes.

I reasoned that it would take something extreme like that to make sure that I did the work I was supposed to!

some unis (mine, for one) will only employ graduates to be note takers etc unless they really can't find anyone. but your example shows it might still be worth checking with your uni as some unis obviously do employ undergrads!
