Cost of running a George Foreman Grill

I ended up buying a Tesco health grill which cost around 14 quid. My budget at the moment couldn't stretch to a George.
I bought it on Friday and have used it again and again. It is brilliant.
My best discovery so far is that I can cook sliced onions on it. I ended up with lovely, sweet, caramelized "fried" onions without using any oil, butter or fat at all.0 -
I find the best way to clean this type of grill is once you have finished using it and its still very hot, unplug from the wall then fold four squares of kitchen roll up and wet until dripping. Then plop onto the grill so the surface is covered and close the lid.
You'll hear it sizzling like mad as the water steam cleans the grill. When it cools down, the burnt on stuff just wipes straight off.0 -
mine was a wedding present 6 years ago & i love it.
the first time i cooked sausages on it i nearly had a heart attack at the amount of fat that came out of them!2011- new year, new start.

I love mine, it's one of the best things I've ever bought
I clean it by switching off once I'm finished cooking & putting a wet facecloth (get them from Poundland specifically for the purpose) on it & closing the lid, by the time we've eaten, the mess wipes off easily & the cloths last & last (I wash them of course!)
as well as all the usual things
filled wraps are lovely done on it, just make sure you have the open end up!
also chunky veg ... peppers, courgettes, mushrooms, onion etc, you can toss them in a tiny bit of oil in a bowl before grilling to make them tastier
the only bad thing I can think of is that I've never had any success with cooking bacon on it, the meat bit dries out while the fat remains soggy, not too much to complain about though0 -
I slice potatoes about quarter of an inch thick and put in the grill and make thick round, fat free chips.
I also slice aubergines and cook for a couple of minutes to layer in moussaka again fat free.
For breakfast lightly drizzle a slice of homemade bread with olive oil and pop in the grill with tomatoes for a yummy very cheap meal.
As you can see I love mine!!!!!!!!Debt Free Date [STRIKE]December[/STRIKE] June 2019

Thank you all for your ideas and cleaning tips.
I did a cheese, onion and tomato panini today - it was scoff-tastic.
I have also tried debbiedebt's "chips" which were lovely.0
