I am thinking of buying a George Foreman grill.
Does anybody know if they are expensive to run, electricity-wise?
Thanks,
Farf.

its cheaper than using the oven, and healthier, i use mine all the time, well worth the investment.:A :j0

I'll second that, i love mine:D They are really healthy, its amazing how much fat comes out of food:eek: And you can do fab toasted sandwiches/paninis in it;)The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

I'm sorry that I didn't get a bigger one. It really seals in the flavour and keeps things juicy - try a fresh tuna steak on the George Forman and you won't want to cook it any other way.
I'm also a big fan of the Remoska mini-oven. Very, very cheap to run, fantastic results and I'm kicking myself that I didn't get really, really big one - but I couldn't afford it at the time.
I use both of these appliances and only turn on the oven when I'm cooking a lot of dishes or for more than four people. My electricity bill has plummeted0 -
I have a George Foreman grilly thingy.. and I have to agree they are great.. Tuna Steaks on them are brill.

Thank you for your replies. I will buy a George this weekend.
I didn't think of doing paninis on it - good idea.0 -

saw some george foreman branded chicken or pork grill steaks etc in Tesco today, guess he is trying to make a bit more cash.
I used to use my grill all the time, for meat but also for kids stuff such as fishfingers and nuggets but for some reason I stopped using it for a while and then after being stored for months it burnt the sausages I tried to cook in it so I haven't bothered since.
The best thing to cook in it just to see how much fat is reduces is lamb chops, the drip tray has to be emptied half way through, and to think I would have normally eaten that fat if I cooked them like I used to!
Don't buy lamb now though, my OH doesn't like it so I leave it as a treat when I go out0 -
Get the biggest one you can afford. They're great for lots of things and sometimes come with recipe booklets. I used to take mine camping as well as use it at home. They're so good, me and my ex-husband bickered over custody of ours when we split up. I caved. I could always buy the latest model when I could afford to.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0

Can you use them to cook anything that suggests grilling in the cooking instructions? I have quorn burgers as a treat sometimes (I don't eat red meat), and was wondering if I could cook them with it. I like the panini idea as well.0
