Holiday medical insurance excess

can I claim back from anyone [ government?] my £60.00 excess the insurance company withheld on my medical claim from an accident in Austria?
Thanks.

  • Hi there.

Sorry, but the answer is no. The excess under any policy is your responsibility and the only way to get it back is if the damage was caused by someone elses negligence and you sue them for damages.
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.

No when you buy insurance it always gives you an excess fee but if you look carefully next time some of them now let you pay an excess waiver fee of about £5-£10 and then if you do claim you don't have to pay the excess fee.

    Hope that helps.
