Technically, should be in every case of a private landlord. But from reading on here it appears that some OR Offices are doing at their discretion.0

They certainly seem to be. It's the same picture on other forums as well.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thats what i thought, it does sound as if some OR are human after all and see BR people as needing assistance and not condemning them to further heartache and aggro.

As with any other people, the vast majority are pleasant and helpful.
You get the odd one who is an awkward ****er
, but that's the same in any walk of life and nothing to do with working for the Insolvency Service. Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I find it strange the OR isn't going to inform them though

The clause just says that if I become bankrupt they may end the tenancy. I called the agency anonomously a few weeks ago and they said that as long as the rent is being paid, they don't tend to act on it. I think from what the OR said, it's more a get out clause for the landlord in case they get a BR tenant who doesn't pay rent or treats the house badly.
The buildings insurance isn't in my name so my financial status has no impact.BSC member 131 :j Now bring me that horizon...

Technically, the OR should arrange for a disclaimer (stamped by court) to be sent to the landlord. Basically, it states that as the property is rented then the OR has no interest.
Letter not sent for coucil property or housing association though.
The OR said that this would happen if I fell into arrears but not otherwise. I guess I just have to trust that he knows what he's talking about.BSC member 131 :j Now bring me that horizon...
