Newlec Calypso Plus electric shower

I have a Newlec Calypso Plus electric shower which is about 12 years old. When I turned it on this morning it made a gushing, whooshing noise like there was an airlock then started to spray properly. Only trouble is it wont heat up now. When you turn it on you can feel it start to get hot just for a moment, then it goes back to just barely warm. Doesnt matter which way you turn the heat regulator, only tepid comes out. Does anyone know what this could be, or if its repairable or do I need a new shower unit.
If I need a new one, can you get and electric shower that runs only off the cold but incorporates a pump like a power shower to give a stronger flow ?
