Advice Needed - Car Insurance

I need a bit of advice please.
My father is about to renew his car insurance - he had a protected no claims - but has had two claims (both his fault) in the past six months.
On his renewal it gives him a 55% (5.5 years?) no claims discount.
What I wish to know is - is the 55% five and a half years - just wary of giving misleading info. in a quote.

No, NCD is not calculated on such a scale - just call his insurer and ask how many years are applicable.0 -
Probably knocked back to 3 years.0

Shouldn't have been with him having NCB protection. Usually you can have 2-3 (depending on co) prangs in so many years (again depending on co) before you lose any NCB entitlement.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
The first hurdle will be when he declares how many claims he has had in the last three years; he might not even get as far as stating how much NCB he is entitled to....Reassuringly expensive0
