XP start up problems

Hi all I was wondering if anyone in this forum can help. Has anyone come across a problem I have with my Windows XP program and found a fix without reinstalling XP fully because “repair” does not do it, When I start up XP it goes to the log on screen no problem as long as I log on immediately, if I do not it rolls over and the whole start up process begins again if I sign in say 20 odd seconds later this also sometimes happens. One last thing if I cancel the log in process it starts up completely no problem except I have an over inquisitive child.

hi Browntoa Thanks for the quick response just been there and tried starting up in SAFE MODE the screen came up with administer button also my start up button, that screen stayed on for about 15 seconds then as usual rolled over and started again. I realize when I removed old programs I no longer use I must of deleted something needed for the start up program, does this help ?0
