Is there a way to recover my browsing history from firefox.
It seems to have mysteriously vanished overnight, no one has tampered with the pc to do this, but I've lost the whole history/search info etc.

Hi Kean, First make sure that hidden files are displayed by clicking on ‘my computer’ and then selecting ‘Tools-Folder Options’, then select the ‘View’ tab. Look down the list and click the circle next to ‘show hidden files and folders’
Then make sure firefox is not running (This is very important).
The firefox bookmarks file can be found in: C:\Documents and Settings\name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile name
‘Name’ will be your windows account name
‘Profile name’ will be a set of random digits(usually ending in ‘.default’.. e.g’ h4j23b4.default’
The file that your bookmarks are in is called ‘bookmarks.html’.
If it has become damaged or deleted you can use a backup file called ‘bookmarks.bak’. Do this only if you are sure that you can’t see your saved bookmarks. If you are absolutely sure that your bookmarks are gone, then delete the file called bookmarks.html, and then rename ‘bookmarks.bak’ as bookmark.html
Try running firefox again and hopefully your bookmarks will be back.
If not close firefox again and have a look in a folder inside the ‘profile name’ folder called ‘bookmarkbackups’. Copy the newest file in that folder and past it into the ‘profile name’ folder. Then rename it to ‘bookmarks.html’ again(deleteing the original bookmark.html first).
Once you have everything back again it's a really good idea to keep a backup copy of your bookmark file somewhere safe.
Hope that all makes sense. Good luck.
