There will not be a crash

Ah but you are assuming I am from one of those places, I am not. I am from Northern Ireland. This of course gives you extra reason to contemplate because you are no doubt aware that NI also is home to some of the highest prices outside London, very much comparable to the SE. So you are thinking that NI has such low wages (it is fact, look it up if you are in doubt) yet has such high prices... so perhaps indeed a crash may be possible.
I'm a bit perplexed if this possibility remains beyond your imagination.2 + 2 = 4

We have ridden out a crash before and will again.
As long as people who have bought recently have done their sums and are not needing to sell they will be fine.
Yes people who get divorced lose jobs etc may have to sell, but that is not everyone out there.
I just wish that people who have to sell dont get burnt to much and are able to do what ever makes them happy.
People like squatnow have to take out all their failings on others and try scaring everyone else with poppycock, just to try and make themselves feel better, however in the long term they will sit back all alone and will have a quiet moment and wish they had not tried to scare and wish misery on normal people just trying to carve out their little palace in this fine country we call England
Amen to that (except for the spelling error - I do hate the confusion of affect and effect..) and the needless slur on squatnow's blameless character.Let's hope we can all, homeowners and would be FTB's both, manage to get along and do fine.
What a wonderful country we live in.

As I said before this company is a brilliant one to work for and pays well but we do work very hard. All you need when you start is a clean driving license and our company trains us to very high standards in all areas of plant equiptment.
They also take graduates in at senior staff level and fast track them through the business, this then opens up loads of different career options and if you want you can transfer to overseas contracts within the organisation.
That is fine where you are, but the numbers you are stating are totally unrealistic in Northern Ireland.pickles110564 wrote: »As Norman T once quoted get on your bike and find better paid jobs they are out there
It is clear that neither you nor Norman T has any meaningless experience of Northern Ireland.I work in a lab and a salary of over £28K is not unbelievable. And I am not a manageer or anything. This is in the South East, no doctorate, I have a MSc. My girlfriend has similar. Most people I know are on a similar level, all graduates, not post grads.
Well, if you were in Northern Ireland, you would be struggling to find a job at all! If you found yourself paid £20k you would be relatively fortunate. With my own and my colleague's experiences, I can tell you that the salary you are getting would be more typical of a Ph.D. educated individual with a few years experience. The reality for graduates over here is that one will often get a similar income by accepting a Ph.D. stipend as opposed to searching for a job.And my electrician brother, and my mortgage adviser brother too. And my social worker mother, all above this £28K!
Marvellous but again you are talking about somewhere different than I. I should also point out that your brothers are both heavily reliant upon the housing boom. If they are intelligent, they will be moderately concerned when considering the events of recent months.
So here we have it. I clearly stated "in my part of the country". I made no attempt to hide it. Then you have all responded by questioning the validity of my comments by referring to somewhere other than "my part of the country". So maybe you would all like to start again....2 + 2 = 4

Having read the heated posts on here I thought I should add a comment.
Life really is so short and we are, as individuals, on this planet for such an infinitesimally short time. We should try to enjoy life and make the most of each day and the people who we care about rather than worry whether we've 'made' money on our house or 'lost' money.
If a house price crash happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Post after post on this forum will make no difference to the future of the housing market. What goes around, comes around. Live life for the moment, and make memories for the future. Be happy.
A quote from a recent Ikea magazine:
Do you life in a house or a home?
Are you in it for the money or the love?
Do you think you'll be happy when you move?
Or are you happy now?
Does it give you financial security or emotional warmth?
Does it make you feel like you're getting somewhere?
Or does it make you feel like you're there now?
If it could talk, could it tell anyone what your favourite colour is?
When your little boy draws a plane on the wall, do you reach for the paint roller or grab another crayon and draw a rocket?
Is it perfect?
Or is it real, and still perfect?
Do you keep it as empty as possible to create space, or do you fill it with all the people and things you enjoy the most?
Do you look in estate agent's windows?
Or do you look in your own window and think 'how lovely'?
Are you constantly monitoring its price or are you measuring its occupants' heights on the back of the bathroom door?
What's the most important thing you put into it, two fifths of your salary, or your life and soul?
What's the most important thing you'll get out?
A profit?
Or a treasure trove of memories that'll never, ever go down in value but always up.
It's not too late.
A house can always become a home.
Love, not money.
That's what gives a home a soul.
And a home's soul is NOT FOR SALE.0 -
