MSN Live Messenger log in help.....

Help needed please..............

I can't log into MSN Live Messenger at all... I have resorted to deleting my account and signed up with a new account name, password kit and caboodle BUT whenever i try to log in it says that a firewall has been detected and is blocking it... When i go to the security centre it says that Firewall is on but when i go to change the firewall settings it says that firewall is turned off....

I also run Norton Antivirus

I keep getting an error code of 80072ee7

In the basic connectivity troubleshooting page it says that my default gateway appears to be offline yet from what i can tell it's not....

Any help would be appreciated

Are you behind your own router or do you connect using a modem provided by your isp?

Please be more specific with your network setup and software used.

Is this a sudden new problem to you? As in have you been using messenger fine before today, and have not changed anything before the problem?
Reason I ask is that messenger has had a lot of problems lately, I have suddenly started getting an unable to logon with the reason "You IP adress appears to be invalid" next day all is fine, also logged on and a warning at the top of the messenger window "Due to a connection problem changes you make might not be applied to other computers you use"
Point being the fault may not lie with your system.
