BT Line not quite disconnected

I gave in my 14 days notice to BT, as I now have a cable phone.
Since my disconnection date, my BT line still has a dial tone, although it won't let me dial out. Is this normal? Is it still enabled for 999 perhaps?
Thanks

I'm currently dealing with the sale of a deceased relative's house and, having ceased the line (the solicitor confirms the final bill has been received), the dial tone remains (and 17070 confirms the old number) but neither incoming nor outgoing calls are possible.AlwaysSomething wrote: »I gave in my 14 days notice to BT, as I now have a cable phone.

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I have a line here not used or paid for by me and I can dial out and in

I don't but I know I could, I just wonder if BT has made a mistake and I can use a line paid for by some other person. It used to be our 2nd line but the number is different now.0 -
I think they call it "soft" dial tone, think all you can ring is 150, they are hoping if you move in you will reconnect
