steamers and what to do with them

I really struggle to get rice right. This thread might have convinced me to get a steamer when I move out! I'd be interested in any sites you find emmy05  Are the Tefal ones best?
BlueFleur - my steamer is a simple steaming pan you put on the hob - bought in Ikea in the late '80s. Consisting of pan base, steaming basket and lid, all in stainless steel. I have never needed anything more fancy than that and my rice is impeccable whatever the raw material I started from :-)"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
I use mine for veg including mushrooms. Have never cooked meat in it but only salmon.
My salmon recipe - cut out large square of tinfoil. put salmon on top, spread on thick layer philadelphia sprinkle on parsley salt and pepper. wrap up by folding all corners together and put in top basket. yummy.
That sounds lovely, will have to give it a try now that I have bought a steamer.0 -
I have a Tefal all in one, although not the latest one that they have in Lakeland with the porridge function-still make it in the slow cook function though.
Anyway, I love taking cold, steamed veggies in my lunch to work, especially brussel sprouts, yum!

I have cooked a whole chicken before in tefal steamer.
I use mine a couple of times a week. Mainly for veg. But I have done chicken breasts and veggies before.

I use my steamer regularly. My favourites are broccoli, spinach and curly kale. They retain all their taste, and since no minerals are leaked into the cooking water as when boiling them, they also retain more nutrients.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
