Dixons

Options
I ordered a new TV from them on the 29th of febuary with a delivery date of thursday the 6th March, the guy who i spoke to when i ordered the TV gave me a number to ring the day before delivery to arrange a time that suited me.

On the wednesday afternoon i called up and asked for my delivery time to be changed, but was told i could not do that as the address i gave did not match my address, and advised me to phone dixons, Which i did and they sent of an email to the delivery people.

On the thursday morning i phoned again just to check that my address change had gone through, and was first told no and then told that she had the email, i then found out they had my home phone number written down wrong and gave the person on the phone the correct number along with my mobile and she said they would call just before they delivered.

So my delivery time came and went and i phoned them up to find out what was happening and was told that it had been delivered to the flat downstairs from me and could i go down and ask for my TV, my brother went down stairs and knocked on the door and the neighbour denied signing for any TV which somehow turned into threats of violence from them. ten minutes later they had there old TV outside on there balcony.

Anyway speaking to dixons they first said that they would send the driver back round to collect the TV and deliver it to me, When he knocked they obviously ignored the door. So eventually rearanged for a new TV to be delivered on the sunday. Which it has been.

I have made a complaint as i feel rather annoyed at having taken a day of work to wait in for a delivery which would have arrived had it not been for their mess up of the address. They have come back with a refund of £15 which i feel is not very generous considering losing a days holiday and the threats of violence from the chav neigbours.

What i want to know is should i proceed with asking for more compensation, and if so how do i go about it, or should i leave it? I would have been happy with a £50 refund as this is what i lost out in my days wasted holiday. After all my neighbours have a free TV.

Thanks

yes ask for thousands in compensation - you deserve it and it's just what we want our society turning to, compensation for the slightest inconvienience
  • That's a bit unfair!

Dixons cocked up. Why should the OP have to lose out for their mistake?

Bloody companies delivering whenever they feel like it really irritate me. I'd try and get the money back that I'd lost. It's only fair, really.
  • I doubt very much your neighbour will be keeping that TV! I would not concern yourself with that mistake now though let them sort out that mess themselves!

Dixons are not responsible for your vile neighbours and I am not sure you can claim for a loss of a day's holiday if you had taken it off to recieve the TV unless you had to take the Sunday as a day's holiday too?

The thing that bothers me is the fact that i phoned them twice to make sure that they had the right details, they could have made the effort to contact the driver and pass along my correct phone number in the least.

I know you feel cross because your chavvy neighbours have ended up with a freebie telly, but Dixons have lost out bigtime on this order (ie a telly) and I don't really see why they should give you £50.

No i am more cross that i took a day of work and after calling twice to fix dixons mistake they still messed up. Dixons lost out because of their own inability to tell the driver the correct address, not really sure how that is my problem. My problem is that because they were unable to make a simple change to an address and phone number i wasted a days holiday.

Thats why I now get everything delivered to my work address, unless its a massive item like a sofa. I will not waste another day off sitting in for an incompetent company to deliver.
