in Credit cards
Is this a sign of the Credit crunch? The other day my wife went to buy a pair of training shoes. At the pay point the assistant said that a new card has been brought out that earns double points. Do you want to transfer to this new account? Now as we always pay this card off in full by the due date the chance of double points seemed attractive. My wife holds this card, a new look card and an argos card. All paid off by the due dates. How shocked she was when she was declined the application. The letter came through today but none the wiser. It just said we can not issue one at this time. Would my thoughts that as we always pay the cards off before we incur interest be the reason why she was refused? Lets face it some credit card companies have taken the steps to advise some of its holders that they are closing their accounts due to these cards costing that company money, its looks to me that store card companies are doing the same. We have no adverse marks on our credit history, infact i have just settled off one car loan prior to taking out another and we have lived at the same address for over eighteen years. It really has to be that creation finance do not make any money from us and every time my wife uses the card it costs them to process the transaction. I just wished they would be more honest and say sorry but we don't want people who pay off their cards in full each month.

Not so. Every time you use your card to purchase something, the card company makes money from you. All businesses have overheads, but providers still make a tidy profit.
I would keep an open mind about the reasons. Perhaps it's a sign of the credit crunch, as you say, but TBH there are any number of reasons why a given lender may refuse to extend credit.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
