Booking a Holiday for Large Family

Hi,

Can anyone help

I have 3 Daughters (5 and twins @ 3).

I have been looking to book a cheap and cheerfull all inclusive break in the sun for the autumn half term this year.

This will be our 1st holiday abroad since the kids were born, however because we don't fit the 'normal' 2 adults + 2 Children every quote I get back is staggering because they all seem to come back stating we need to book 2 rooms.

I am sure you clever bunch can make some suggestions on how to best improve this ?

We have three boys and it would appear the world is designed for families to only have 2 children. Even Disney hotels fit only 4 in a room. However the good news is you will find apartments for 5. Its trickier but in some respects because the choice is more limited it makes decisions easier. We went to Zante last year with Thompson staying the the Alykanas Villiage Hotel and Apartments. My review is latest on holiday truths. Its not AI but to be honest was better value as SC than our last AI. year before we stayed at Blue Bay Escape in Corfu, this was AI and in both cases rooms easily slept 5. Look for apartments with AI rather than hotels. Good luck

    Where can you fly from?
What exact dates do you want to go on?
    Whats your budget?
Is there anywhere you would prefer/not prefer to go to?

We have 4 children and last year we only looked for apartments/cottages/gites. That way you can be sure of fitting the family in and not paying for 2 rooms.

Or you could look for large caravan/mobile homes on sites like Siblu (Haven abroad). The age your kiddies are they would be OK in these mobile home bedrooms - we didn't look at this sort of accommodation though as 2 of our kids are teenagers and need a bit more space than the short/narrow bed in a typical caravan.

Plenty of apartments and mobile homes are available with activities & pools on site but watch out before you book for Autumn half-term, as many will not have the activities open after September.

We have the same problem. I usually look for cheap flights and then add on the accomodation. Travel republic has options AI for 2adults and 3 children.

Last October we booked Calella palace, callella spain AI for about £400 and then had cheap ryanair flights. The room was really for 4 but with an extra bed so a bit squashed. We find you sometimes have to look online get your ideas then maybe ring and check if you are unsure. We have just booked a trip online and the e-mailed to check with the hotel who said actually no what is booked wont fit you but for the same money we will move you and give you an extra bed.

It just means you either pay the huge amounts or do a bit more work.

    sites that are useful are

    Travel republic

    or otbeach.com

    for AI or full/half board.

Both sites usually have something and then you can search trip advisor to check if they are any good or even sometimes search on cost on other sites. Although both these sites tend to be competitive.
  • Not sure what your type of holiday is but have you tried somewhere like EuroCamps? http://www.eurocamp.co.uk/

they do mobile homes, tents, and apartments, which start from about £350 ish (as far as I could see) including channel crossing for a week in Autumn half term.

http://www.relaxabroad.com/i have just booked 1 weeks break in easter half term, they might be a bit more exspensive than travel republic, but including the hotel transfers it worked out cheaper. the only problem was the site has no hotel rating so i had to use other sites to check rating, the hotel we wanted to stay at is situated betwwen 2 night clubs, no good for families... cheak out reviews on other sites
