Unfortunately you can only earn upto £95 per week and claim carers allowance so maybe look into lowering your hours to 16 and you will satisfy their criteria. If you have already submitted your claim pack maybe give them a ring and tell them this was an average hours worked over the last year and if you are going to continue reduce your hours asap. Carers allowance is £48.65 and you would lose £22 ish wages for the 4 hours.
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

Carers allowance, I can't remember the exact figure but will increase in April, I think it's to just over £50 per week.

You can ask for a carers assessment from social services to apply for direct payments, something I haven't done personally (not keen on the local social worker and don't want their involvement) but I do know many who have.

If you claim tax credits they also may increase, inform them asap.

Best wishes and I hope the payments you are receiving help your son.
One day I might be more organised...........

You will be entitled to more tax credits (depending on family income) due to your son getting DLA, so you should inform them of the change straight away.

If you earn more than £95 pw but make payments into a pension scheme directly from your wages 50% of any payments would be disregarded when calculating income for CA.

So as an example, if earnings were £150 pw but you paid £100 pw into a pension scheme they'd disregard tax and NI conts plus £50 of these payments. This would bring your income of CA purposes to below £95 when tax and NI and the 'remaining' £50 is deducted. .

I hope it makes sense. These figures are only rough examples as I'm rubbish at calculating tax and NICs.
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!
