til everything has dissolved and the curd thickens.
How long would you say this takes?"Finish each day And be done with it.

Great thread!
I don't make much at home now. Although I'm trying out ice cream at the moment...
I always make mayonnaise, it's so easy and much nicer than shop bought:
Milk, double quantity of oil, lemon juice, salt & garlic (if you want) Mix all together with a hand blender, it works better if the beaker is on top of a dish towel.0 -
This truly is the best ice cream ever: http://www.recipezaar.com/38523
The recipe calls for half & half but I use a mixture of 1 cup milk and 1TB melted butter instead."Finish each day And be done with it.

I've never really timed it, but it's only a few minutes. Guessing, between 5 and 10 mins. HTH.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Are there any foods some of you prefer shop bought rather than home made ?
I am an eager cook but must admit I prefer aunt Bessies mash to my own !
Also I much prefer the ready made trifles from the chiller cabinets to home made.
Is it just me or do any other old stylers want to confess !Moneysaving? - I cant stop spending because of this site!0 -
I think I make a mean mash, but we had M&S Ultimate Mash tonight (2 dine for £10) and it was truly the dogs'.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

I am not sure why but I think tuna sandwiches always taste better from shops rather than home made.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090

Haha loads of things. Custard, hoummous (the arden type), some bread, and to be honest most of the M&S stuff. Their cauliflower cheese is the most divine food ever. Ever! There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0

I'm the same as puss14, never found anything ready made than is better than I could make. I do occasionally find some things (can't think of any off hand right now though) that is really nice and that I would never consider making. I find most ready-made stuff far too salty, even M&S, and that saltiness overpowers any of the other flavours.
Ahh, just thought of something before I hit submit reply - fish pies. I have never made a really good fish pie (with the mash on top) and I really like the cheap ones, even though it's obvious they use some smash-like potato thing for the topping.
