Can anyone help me, I have a Credit Card debt of £1500.00. NOT a lot of money I know. I am ill at the moment suffering deppresion & anxiety. Living on benefits of £360 per month to pay everything. I have used my credit card for groceries and general living. I dont go out because of my illness.
I have been in touch with the Credit card company, and they are most unsympathetic to my case, basically saying if I dont pay my payments every month they will issue court action. I am worried sick. I am having to borrow money to make this payment.
Any Help and advice would be greatly appreaciated.:o

Think your best bet is to speak to someone at the CAB. Possibly you can speak to them through email or phonecalls?
They'll be able to advise you better, but not aware of any medical or compassionate grounds for not paying a credit card debt.
One advantage of having been using a credit card for spending I guess is that you'll have a detailed record of how much you're spending and where - would recommend the budgetting tool that Martin had put together and work through that to understand where you're spending money.
Assuming 3% minimum repayment, your £ 1500 debt will be a minimum of £ 45. Of your £ 360 benefits, that's 12.5% of your income, so the real challenge is to see how to make the other 87.5% go further. There are some good posts, ideas and support on the DFW board that might help you."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
Thank you for your advice Cannyjock. I will speak to someone at the CAB0

Could you point to the bit where she wanted free money, please? Because I don't see one. I see someone in a desperate and frightening situation who wants to pay back her debt but can't because the card company won't let her reduce her payments.0 -
Believe Me I am NOT looking for free money as you suggest !!! I am desperate to clear this debt. May I say YOU ARE ALL HEART NOT !!. I hope you are never in this situation I would not wish it on my worst enemy.0

Yup, I thought this site existed so people could help each other, not have a go at people in a difficult situation.
I'm sure the OP didn't intend on being unable to work, after all.
I echo what Cannyjock says.
