net laundry bags for delicates

i was just wondering if any of you make use of those net laundry bags to wash your delicates in?

all my new undies for holidays arrived to day (OH got a fashion parade he's been beaming from ear to ear all day ), and i wash contemplating getting one to pack them in.

but then i got to thinking - would i ever use it after i got bacK? wouldnt a pillowcase (that i already have) do the same job?

your thoughts please?

Hi there!

I use one of those mesh bag thingies all the time, think it is fab! I have never used a pillowcase - saw the bags in Woollies, didn't occur to me at the time to think of an alternative. My only two reservations about a pillowcase are that if there isn't a fastening on it then bits and pieces might get out; the other is that if the pillowcase is part of a bedset then it/they may fade faster than the duvet due to the extra washing. Oh and the pillowcase has to dry somewhere too, if space is an issue - the net bag dries itself in the laundry basket.

My net bag has saved me lots of £££ on tights - they last so much longer than if they go into the machine loose. I don't do handwashing, ever.

I say get a bag, they are v.useful and a one time purchase as they are virtually indestructible.

BTW I got new undies today too but mine are the variety that no man on this planet will ever see. Lucky you (and OH)!

If you can be bothered with the extra hassle that goes with individually packing each one, all the washing tablet manufacturers give them away for free off their websites - those little ones for tablets - they fit a pair of pants, tights, or a bra!

I wondered what to do with mine as I have about 4, then realised that they would at least protect my posh delicates when I cant be bothered to handwash! If you are fond of err... small pants, then the bags fit two....

Hm, think your bras must be smaller than mine, you'd barely get half a cup of my ones into one of those little nets!

I use a pillowcase and tie a knot in it. The net bags are sh*te IMHO and the zip catches on things - sort of defeating the object really;)
Could you use a sprout net?... as in brussels sprouts? or the nets oranges come in?
Just a thought but no doubt someone will try it

Have you got an old piece of net curtain, you could sew one then and put abit of drawstring in the neck to tie it. Just a thought

They sell them in the Pound shop for... go on, guess . I was cross with myself for buying them from Lakeland at about £4.50 for a pack of two.

Woolies! you buy stuff from woolies! that place is extortionate!!! I got a pack of two A4 sized smalls laundry bags from the local cheapo shop for 50p they are brill............. i am getting some for OH to put his sock in so i don't have to rummage around the bottom of the drum to get them....
