Attempted Paypal Fraud???

Hi I hope someone can advise me on the next steps to take.
I have been selling odds & sods on ebay for a month or so, and have just received an email from paypal saying someone has tried to access my paypal account so they have blocked it, and I need to send copies of my passport & bank statements and a copy of the card I use on the account to them.
I have checked my bank account and all looks fine, but am scared to log onto my paypal account!!
The thing is the email is just addressed to my surname, the email they are asking me to send my details to is: security@paypalfraudchecking.com
Is this legit, can anyone help?

send the email to there spoof address and they will advise whether it is real or not
i think its spoof@paypal.com - look on there website to confirm but do not reply to the email or press any links until you have confirmation from paypal- I came, I saw, I conquered :j

you can also ring them to ask and they will tell you straight away of any activity on your acccount.
we were the victims of his at the weekend only they got into our account and stole £500. we were mortified but rung paypal within 10 minutes of the email to say funds had been sent. they put a block on the transfer and could see the activity straight away so they had the other persons name and everything.
they were very helpfull and thankfully stopped us being up poo creek without a paddle as this would have ment my bills started bouncing.back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
ALWAYS log into your Paypal account and don't click on any links in emails. These phishing emails are getting better and better.
And if it didn't come from @paypal.com or if you hover over the links and it doesn't lead you to paypal.com, forward it to spoof@paypal.com.
On my main Paypal/ebay email addy, I have a seperate folder for Paypal, so if an email from "paypal" appears in anything other than my Paypal folder, I'll ignore it."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

i've actually got a post around here somewhere whereby my sisters account was hacked and spent a fair bit, although her ebay account is fine. her credit card are currently looking into it but I have to say if these people were doing an account a day they must be keeping paypal busy!Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

If you read the whole thread, the email was actually a phishing email, nothing has happened to OP's account."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

These phishing mails are very common and it worries me that some people are still unsure about them.
Always log in safely through your own link to paypal (or ebay if the mail is from them) and work from there..if in doubt do as others have suggested and call paypal by phone.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
