You must be a troll, prices only go up!!!Disclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0 -
We may have more properties appearing now ( as usual) but they are selling around me within 4 weeks and always higher than the offers over. The latest beside me was offers over £275 and it went for £310. I personally feel that as there are not enough houses to go round Scotland will not be hit in the same way as England. The one thing I am seeing is a few fixed prices starting to appear.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

I bid on a house last month, on at offers over £205k. It went for £250k. The council isn't releasing any more land to build on right now. We went to a local builders and they have no more plots left. The houses here are being snapped up quickly (well the 3 and 4 bedrooms are), sometimes within the week - usually 2-3.
I've seen more fixed prices too, but usually on the ones that won't shift so quick.0 -
No, you must be right, the BBC must be wrong.
House prices only ever rise, of course. Scotland is different.
Those of you who actually bothered to look at the link, will notice that it said prices would fall from the summer, as the new law (an expanded version of HIPS, by the look of it) gets close, and everyone puts their house on the market.
Those desperately talking up Scottish prices do know that Scotland lagged the rest of the UK by about a year in the last crash, too?0 -
Same here. I lost out on a flat at closing date couple of weeks, offers over £105K and was second highest at just over £130K. There just isn't enough around to satisfy demand. Things may stagnate in certain areas but I would be very surprised if prices (in general) started falling after the summer. We may have more properties appearing now ( as usual) but they are selling around me within 4 weeks and always higher than the offers over. That's because of lack of supply. The point of the article was that supply will increase hugely in the summer..0

Oh yes I understood, just don't necessarily agree.MFiT-T6: #38

Which bit did you not agree with, out of interest? That more sellers would put their house on the market to avoid having to fork out, or that this would affect supply and therefore reduce prices?
The former seems very likely to happen given the English experience, which didn't include the (large) cost of a survey. The latter is just the logical consequence of the former.
I think the examples on here make it clear to me that Scotland is ripe for a fall - 310K for a house sounds like a lot to me as a multiple of local salaries.0 -
There are always more properties for sale during the summer months, but I can't see how the introduction of this report will change things much in my area, but how much forking-out exactly are we speaking about?
Yes I would find it hard to believe that prices in certain areas could go much higher, as they are ridiculous, but it may surprise you how much people can earn up here, especially if employed in the Oil and Gas or Fishing Industires. It wouldn't be unusual for offshore/at sea workers to be earning circa 45-60K and upwards. I personally know people who are on month on/off rotation in Baku clearing 8K per month.MFiT-T6: #38
