Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII
Hi all
I own an Evo VIII 260 in a very good condition with a full size spoiler( not the little spoiler they origionally fit on the 260's as standard). Now, today i pick up they keys to my first house and as it happens my girlfriend is pregnant with our first child ( even tho we both have kids from previous relationships that live with us) so obviously I need to save more money. The Evo currently costs me around £250 - £300 pre month to run, thats including insurance, tax , MOT, fuel, servicing ect.
My original plan was to part ex the car against a new Lancer Gs4 and finance the difference over 3 to 5 years. The new car wouldn't need MOTing for 3 years, would be serviced for 3 years free of charge for a cost of £200 when bought, would be cheaper to run fuel wise, cheaper to tax and would save me roughly £600 per year on insurance. I was hoping that I could get my monthly payements down to around £200 per month, fuel, finance, insurance, tax etc.
However the dealer has said that my car is only worth £10000 part exchange, although I have to call in on Thursday as he is going to make a few calls and see if he can improve his offer. The car is in a very good condition with just under 31000 miles on the clock. I was hoping for around £12000 - £12250 ( I reckon its worth about £13000 if i sold it private) as the cost of the new Lancer Gs4 would be around £17500 leaving me the difference to finance.
Is the dealer just trying to pull a fast one hoping to make a couple of grand extra knowing that i really could do with lowering my monthly car running costs or am i being a bit to optimistic.
Many Thanks

Sell private, try one of the Evo forums, as there are always people after a good example, then go back and screw the dealer down on price.0

You will always get a less amount at part exchange than selling privately. Selling part exchange is really just paying for the ease of getting rid of your old car there and then with as little hassle as possible.0
