Price protection ? Then why have they increased ?!

Morning all,

I'm with BG for both and took out their price protection 2009 a few years ago and at the time was glad I did, however........

Mrs Daddyswede said yesterday, after getting another bill, "I think they've put their prices up".

I laughed and mocked her, then went and double checked against a bill from 2006 and the crafty !!!!!!s have put their prices up.

Back in 06 we were paying around 13p per kwh, now it's nearer 16.

Not a great increase I know, but an increase all the same. especially as I've had letter's confirming that everybody else's prices have increased except mine, as I had PP 2009.

I'm firing off an e-mail to them today, but wondered if anyone else out there has noticed this and if anyone has pulled them on it.

Cheers

Daddyswede

p.s. Yes I know that the missus was right and shouldn't have questioned her, but I am a bloke after all !

Nothing surprises me with the BG Computer - the transfer of data has been a disaster.

There are two PP 2009 tariffs - PP 2009 & PP December 2009 - the latter having higher prices. Could you have been moved to the December tariff?

I have a booklet with both tariffs. If you state which area you live in, and Direct Debit or quarterly pyment I can give you the prices for both.

If you wish to check for gas the prices are:

    PP 2009 it is 4.739p/2.678p(quarterly) & 3.52p/2.611p for DD

    PP December 2009 4.817p/2.722p & 3.578p/2.654p

Actually those prices are probably more expensive than BG's latest Click 5 tariff at 6.2p/2.601p when you take into account that the tier 1 prices are charged for 670kWh a quarter instead of 1,143kWh and that you get a discount of 10.3% (max £16.89 a quarter) for Direct debit.

However will they stay at that level?

Is it possible that you signed up for Price Protection, then when the prices went down last year yours went down too but now they've simply gone back upto the capped rate you signed up at?
