Does a debt die with you?

CAB might have meant she is liable to deal with debts if an executor which is not the same thing. Agree that debts don't pass on though. A creditor can easily apply for probate details to check the value of an estate (happened to me) so friend should make sure proabate reflects lack of assets if she's in charge of this and then write to creditors confirming it."I always pass on good advice. It is the only thing to do with it. It is never of any use to oneself" -Oscar Wilde0

When my BIL died he had credit card & catalogue debt and he had no savings or insurance and lived in a rented house. He had no family of his own so my OH had to deal with everything, all of his debts were written off because there was nothing to pay them with. Unfortunately there also wasn't any money to pay the funeral bill so we had to pay for that.Dum Spiro Spero0

i always thought that, debts die with you, but on the news the last couple of days.
story is a young girl at uni, here in liverpool, has died. her landlords, who let out property to students, are demanding her parents pay the rent, untill the end of the term, in summer. they live i think it was ireland.
WHY ????A good cowboy always drinks upstream from the herd.
A good cowgirl always keeps her calves together.0 -

WHY ????
Because her parents signed as guarantor to the rent and therefore are jointly liable. Does not make it right though.0 -
My friends mum lived in a council flat and when she died she had a few small debts. Her daughter wrote to the creditors before they moved her stuff out saying she was deceased and didnt leave any money. She didnt give her home address. That was the end of it.0
