Nationwide Credit Card call centre problem

Anyone else had problems getting through- I have wasted nearly 80 minutes since Saturday trying to speak to someone about a transaction on my statement- I've posted a message on their website asking for someone to contact me but they've not even answered it- is this typical of the Nationwide's attitude to customers?

Yes, it is difficult to get through, just keep trying, but they are also very trying:rolleyes: I trust you are using the geographical number and not the 0845 number at 5p per minute?

If you suspect that the transaction is fraudulent then use the "lost and stolen" option: those calls are generally answered pretty quickly, and should connect you to their fraud department.

And don't waste time sending messages through the website: the Nationwide credit card is not actually run by Nationwide, whose website it is, and so there is no mechanism for handling electronic messages about credit cards. (And yes, I find that really frustrating, since I sometimes need to managed the card from abroad.)

Please guys, I'm having the same trouble. I'm abroad now and my card isn't working even though I cleared my balance before leaving London. I've spent a fortune in about 12 wasted calls being told that my call is important to them and they will answer as soon as possible ad nauseum ad infinitum (sic). Each time I wait about 10 minutes and then just can't bear thinking about my host's phone bill and hang up.

The number I'm using is +44 2476 438997. Usually when I phone from London, I use the number on the credit card statement (converting it to a geographical one) and I get through quite quickly.

I don't have any statements with me though.

Can anyone with a nationwide credit card give me the number they tell you to call on the statement please. I'd be very grateful.

    the number is 08457 99 88 99

no luck again in getting through though- total 108m since saturday with no sucess!!

seems the problems may be linked to the 'merchandise interest' as mentioned in another thread

I got through to someone on another number who called the credit card people for me- said it should be less than 3 minutes- she gave up after 10!

    best of luck

Try +44 1268 567213 which is listed as the geo equivalent of 08457 998899 on saynoto0870
