whats this involve

Hey everyone,

im making a claim for incapacity benefit online. Can someone tell me what this is all about and what it involves?

When we get your application

When we get your application we will phone you for more information to complete your claim. We will normally do this within five working days. The call may take about 40 minutes. If there is a good reason why it is not suitable for us to phone you, you can tell us about this when making your application. For example, you may prefer a face-to-face interview with a sign language interpreter or you may need a full claim form in large print. If you cannot provide a contact number you cannot use this service. Please make a claim by contacting Jobcentre Plus.

Thanks
Lupie

I remember getting a phone call from them clarifying a few things on the form and asking a few extra questions but sorry can't remember exactly what.. one tip , make sure you save a hard copy so that you have it to hand when they phone to remind yourself what you have put on the form.. Its easy to forget and I did wonder if thats why they were checking , to see if my story tallied as it were...:rotfl:

lol thats ok tanith, im way ahead of ya, I know the feeling of forgetfulness.

If you, or anyone else remember what they ask can you please let me know. I tend to suffer anxiety attacks if I dont know what im getting myself into.

    thanks

    Hi Lupie

Filling in the electronic form over the internet only asks basic questions and only indicates that you wish to start a new claim and not the same as actually making a claim.
As you have had a reply, your intention to claim has been logged.
Questions they are likely to ask are about previous employment(NI contributions, place of work), confirmation of NI number, illness(medical note)
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.
