Good morning: As Errata suggested on 19/03, the Planning Portal website will be able to address the queries posted to date...the Interactive House facility is very helpful.. http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/hhg/houseguide.html ...take a look as it can answer a range of queries related to building regulations as well as planning. My OH refers his clients to the site when they question the requirement for condensing boilers etc.;)

Use your brain !!!!!! as a percentage what do you think the walls make up of a canny?
10% max the rest is glass and polycarb.
The rules on houses that stipulate k glass dont count on connys because the planners no that it ammounts to nothing anyway.
And at 20 quid for wall insulation what exactly is the point of 20 quids worth of wall insulation on a ten grand build?

warm air rises........... in a conny insulating the bottom 2 foot will save about 2 pence per decade
No need to get ratty Nelly, I do think before I post and always with the OP's best interests in mind,I was just simply pointing out that anything we do to reduce heating costs has got to be a good thing, no matter how small.
Also, a conni is usually made up of 3 new sides and a back wall, the back wall is an external house wall so is thermally efficient inc the patio/french doors and any windows already in it. My point is that if this wall and any frames can be energy efficient then why can't the conni walls and frames be made up at the same standard. OK admittedly that does still leave the roof which is the most difficult part to insulate but there are options available, a U-value of up to 1.8 (maybe more now since my last check) can be acheived with some polycarbs and if opting for glass then up to 1.1 U-value.
The saving has got to be more than 2 pence per decade I reckon.0 -
and I can assure you that if it is as I described THEN IT IS!!! You WONT get a COMPLETION certificate preciseley BECAUSE it is an exempt building. Have a look at the statutory instrument Scedule 2 Regulation 9 Class VII Extensions: The extension of a building by the addition at ground level of- (a) a conservatory, porch, covered yard
where the floor area of that extension does not exceed 30m2, provided that in the case of a conbservatory or porch whic is wholly or partially gl;azed, the glazing satisfies the requirements of Part N of schedule 1 ( thats breaks in a safe way)
SO if your conservatory is as I described earlier it IS EXEMPT!!!! If your local authoruty are acting insuch a manner it is acting vexatiously. Talk to LABC or seek a determination.0 -
not sure why,got planning permission ok,but to get a building warrant they want to know loads of info,not sure if its to do with me having a extension already or because i live in a national park0

If your conservatory is more than 8m2 or closer than 1m from your boundary then you will need a building warrant / building regulations approval.
