Holding an Event for Marie Curie Help needed

In May im arranging a big event in aid of Marie Curie.

This event will be a classic car event and im really looking forward to it.

We have a couple of hundred people coming for weekend camping, go karting, raffles, quiz etc.

Obviously i have no money to spend on the event, with my current financial situation.

I really need to source a marquee for the event but they come at a cost, would anyone know of any companies that might be willing to help?

The event is to be held in Northamptonshire

Thanks Guys

If I was you I would get writing to local companies and offer them sponsorship. Also do you have any idea of the money involved?
  • to be honest im not sure as local companies would be bothered about sponsorship as its not what would normally be classed as a large event and i can not foresee it bringing much business in return for them

However my previous correspondance has been via email, a letter in hand written form, may well be more personal and get a better response!!

Thanks for that, i shall give it a try.

I beleive hiring a marquee, comes with a price of approx 1k!!

It could be used as part of their CSR policy but also it is to do with not the publicity on the day but follow up for example a listing in the local paper.

I presume you've asked Marie Curie for advice, they may have suggested wordings for letters and things like that.

They would probably rather be asked than have you re-inventing the wheel, IYSWIM.

I agree as they have fund raising teams for things like this and plus it is in their interests taht the event runs successfully.

have you thought about asking a local newspaper to do a pre event spread and get them to put your apeal for a marquee and voulenteers to help you in that .. might swing a company into " rushing to save the day" mode ;)

hope this helps think it's a wonderful plan you have and good luck for the event
