Anyone else waiting on a Direct Line mortgage application?

Hello all.
I wondered if any one else was in the same boat as us. We applied for a Direct Line fixed rate (5 years at 5.29%) around two weeks ago. They sent us the forms through and we filled them out and sent them back the next day. I phoned to check they received them and they had. They stated our application had been assigned to an underwriter who should process it in around 8 working days.
We're both just getting nervous as our estate agents are starting to moan about lack of progress (ie. we haven't arranged a survey etc) and I just wondered if anyone else had had news (good or bad!).
I did notice that Direct Line have set up a direct debit against my bank account for mortgage payments so surely that is good news?????
Thanks

we're in the same situation. sent application 2 weeks ago, I called them last week to find out if it had been received at their end and it had, they said I'd hear back between Thurs last week to Monday just gone. No letter, so I called again and they said between Tues-Thurs this week. And spoke to them again yesterday (different query about mortgage) and they are now saying this coming Friday, and that our application was still waiting to be seen by underwriters... I got told that because of high demand for the 5.29% deal they have a great amount of application forms to go through. I'm getting a bit frustrated with it, but hopefully it'll be ok. Can't say I've got a DD setup with them though. Hope all works out well with yours!
ETA: they have set up the DD, just noticed! thanks for pointing that out and making me check!0 -
Thanks for that. A little reassurance that others are in the same boat. Good luck with your application though!!0

To be honest, directline brought out some very good deals. However they may not be set up to deal with the volume. It will be worth it though as the rate is very good!0

i waited for 3 weeks then on the friday they called to say a surveyor would be out on monday.... he was, and the report arrived through the door today. it was 4-5k less than we hoped for - but cant complain in the current climate.
i called DL today and was on hold before my phone conked out after 20 mins. i will call them again tomorrow......I am a Jedi MonkeyYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Jedi Monkey, so you need to take my word for it. 3 weeks seems ages, I'm hoping to hear back from them shortly. I know what you mean about being on hold. Every time I call, I'm waiting for about 20 mins or so for a 2 minute talk! Nice to know that someone else from inverness is making progress with them though!0

I've also applied for a direct line mortgage and it has been slower than usual (3rd mortgage with them). I kept on chasing and finding lack of progress after finally getting through on the phone, they stated that they were working to an 8 working day time frame as they were snowed under with applications, where as normally they try and turn applications around in 48 hours.
Although after about 3 weeks I think I've finally got there, had a phone call on wednesday to confirm the offer pack would be sent out that day and I should receive it the next day (Which I didn't, but instead recieved the offer subject to valuation which had been sent out the previous Friday).
So it does seem that their postal correspondance is either slow, or my postman is running a little behind his schedule. It seemed a little weird to get a phone call from the surveyors to arrange a valuation before I had an 'offer subject to valuation' from DL, but at the same time it was encouraging that the application was progressing.
Just have to wait now for the offer documents to turn up in the post!
Good luck to everyone waiting - I guess no news is good news!0 -
Can't remember exactly when we applied (end of Feb I think).
We received the paperwork within 3 days and sent back the documents they asked for. They then rang me and told me the mortgage had been agreed and a surveyor would be coming to value the property.
On Thursday it will be two weeks since the surveyor came, he told me we would have a copy of the valuation within a week but we've had nothing yet.
We have had the paperwork from the legal firm (can't remember their name) and Direct Line have set up the Direct Debit.
Just glad we aren't remortgaging until 1 May.Cashback earned

Does anyone have a similar issue whereby we are waiting (for 4 weeks now) for the buyer of our buyers property (if you follow) to get the survey done. It appears that Scottish Widows have been inundated with mortgage applications and so S.W. are weeks behind in getting surveys done. Anyone else heard of this problem?0

How long is it taking people for the valuation to be arranged after being offered a mortgage subject to valuation?
I was given the offer yesterday and said I would get a surveyor calling today to arrange a valuation, but nothing.....0 -
They rang me within 48 hours, alternatively, ring them they use Countrywide Surveyors, 0870 600 1 500 off their website.
Cheers
