paypal security question

Can I please confirm that if someone pays money into my paypal account it doesn't give them my home address? Can the person giving me the money ensure that their address is hidden from me?

Thanks.

I've had this same question Gingham when I paid anonymously and I was told that only the name would appear to them and it's from a reliable source. I still like to know if it's always the case - hopefully someone will come along and answer this question for us.

Why not transfer £1 between eachother to find out instead of relying on others past experiences? :)

I asked a related question to paypal a while back - I signed up for a site called Rewards Online and they rejected me because the address I gave them didn't match my home address on record with Paypal. How did they know? I wondered.

Since then they've changed their name to Paypal Offers and it seems they were always part of the Paypal organization so that's probably why.

This is the reply I got when I asked paypal (helpful as always they never actually answered my question) rolleyes.gif
I understand that you are enquiring what people can find out from your
    email address. Mr
, please be advised that upon signing up for a
PayPal account, you provide an email address and a password. All other
information you listed on your account will be secured and hidden. This
information will never be disclosed to anyone. If someone will be
accessing your account using the email address, they will fail to do so
because they will be prompted to enter the password. On other sites
where you sign up for membership, it remains the same. Your only
protection is that you are the only person who knows the password for
your account. For as long as this is the case, no one will be able to
access your information like the home address, your financial
information and other sensitive details which you registered.

However, on eBay, whenever you make a payment, you would provide a
shipping address where your sellers will have access on so that they can
send you the goods. This is still under your prerogative. You may
contact eBay for more information regarding eBay accounts.

Should you have further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us
again. Thank you for choosing PayPal.

As for eBay, I have read on a sports forum, the following.

Just read this on another forum, regarding the impending changes to the eBay feedback system and the possibility of future problems for sellers:
"Just had a guy a few days ago refuse to even post an item I had bought until I left positive feedback for it, plus refusing to refund the money. I told him I didn't like being blackmailed and would see him within a couple of days.
He was right suprised when I knocked on his door, he fell down several times despite my best efforts to help him up he got quite shook up and then decided to give me my money back"

So, just remember smart-!!!!!!, your address is known icon_wink.gif

    Lets be careful out there:beer:

I've done the transferring a pound thing and it LOOKS okay. It's not through ebay.

Thanks everyone. If anyone knows more I'd be glad to hear. Thanks.
