Have a made a istake in a change over to Eon

Help please

I did a comparison on USwitch and Eon cam out best as a new supplier from BG for Gas and Elextric saving over a couple of hundred pounds.

BG have just telephoned to ask why I was changing when I said it was on price they said Eon was 1% more and offered a good will payment to stay with them.

I have just gone over the same comparison and find that with Eon I will be only saving £58,

I am sure I am out of the 14 days cooling off period and I just don't know what to do. Have I made a big mistake?

Worried.

    Hi Busy Dee

It doesn't matter if you are out of the cooling period - you can switch back. Phone your original provider - advise your situation and they will take it from there.

I had a similar situation recently with Eon. I was approached in Tesco and advised my payments would be significantly lower than my current provider EDF, plus i would also catch the elusive Clubcard points. Eon sent me the paperwork to what i had agreed to shortly after and i put it in my drawer of 'things to do', anyway, when doing my paperwork some weeks later - i picked up the paperwork and had a quick look. It was only then i noticed they (EON) wanted to charge me nearly triple:eek: per unit of gas and electric. Needless to say i phoned them and complained - the i got onto EDF who are re-assigning me as a customer. Your original provider should be able to do the same - apparently this happens a lot.
    Take care.
:T :rotfl: Ha Ha ... I did it.... What can i put ???

    Oh thanks suebesue

That is a relief. Although I can now see other cheaper options, I don't know how I would proceed to change to one of them, I think I will tell BG they can keep my account for now and rethink.

I thought Martin said this was sooo easy and I also thought I was getting a cheaper supplier - a lot cheaper!

    Cheers

Did you use any websites when you switched to get cashback? It may still be worth changing to get some cashback, depends how much BG were offering, then change again later in the year to get better rates and more cashback.

I was out of the cooling off period. Both companies said I could change back after being with my new supplier for 28 days.

Yes, I used USwich (how can it have been so wrong?), I am not bothered about the 'free' crate of wine - I also think that was described wrongly. You do not get to know that 'free' does not mean free, it mean you spend some money and then you can get half of it back. You do not get to know this until you have finished changing.

    BG are offering £25.

Do you have to be with a new provider a set length of time before you can change again?

    That's good to know.

    Thank you.
