Principality -- just to make you aware

I decided to fix (thanks for those who advised either way).
Just to pass on the info -- it could not have been any more straightforward.
Easy peasy. Just require last payslip from both of us. No pressure over taking out additional insurance. Just simple.

Great deal as well 5.19 for 5 years fixed.

I am glad that you have had a great service.

This lender is not a well known one and there are gems out there that will offer service and rate. I have never had issue with them.

    Hi,

I am in the market to remortgage at the moement and Principality is one that I tried investingating online, today.

Website wasn't very good- they have a "Mortgage Wizard" that concluded that they didn't have a mortgage suitable for me?! (coming from another lender, only want to borrow 70%, etc)

Guess I'll give them a ring tomorrow and discuss over the phone. Can I ask how much the fees were and the valuation?

    Many thanks,
    Regards,
    Ian

Prinipality's service was spot on over the phone.
Their arrangement fee for 5.19 over 5 years is 999 though.
This is only worth it if you have a big mortgage.
Do you have a big mortgage?

They are a good lender and one that I have supported for a few years now.

Good service however some paperwork can be slow and has been known to get 'lost' in the post.

Don't they have a high ERC of 5% for the whole term?

Yes they do. I guess it comes down to whether you would ever consider needing to sell up over the period.

I may have been tempted to go for this one but have just booked the 5.29% with First Direct.

Depending on the size of the mortgage that 0.1% difference can eat significantly into the higher ERC anyway.

For me, over the course of the 5 years that would be an exta 1,250 pounds. Of course, if you are ERCing then you're looking at some lesser time, but it is 250 pounds a year for me on a mortgage of 250K.

Couldn't find any reference to this on the website. Is it a new product?

They admit being slow in updating the website

Go to: https://www.principality.co.uk, and click on Mortgages.
In the middle of the page there is a large banner saying 5.19 Get It Here!

Can't miss it! Just ring the number. As I say, doing it online forget it...
