How soon can you switch after moving house?
Options
My son is about to leave the nest and move into his own place. Gas and electricity is supplied by British Gas so depending on tariff would probably want to switch.
How soon afther moving can he switch? Does he actually have to start off with the current suppliers?

he will be entering into a deemed contract with BG.
He needs to ring BG and register his name at the property, provide meter readings (to ensure he is not paying for someonelses useage)
He can then look for alternate suppliers, however it can take 4-6 weeks from applying to the alternate supplier to actually becoming a customer, so he will have to be supplied for BG for that period.
When he does ring BG, tell him not to mention his view of changing as he will never get off the phone lol0
