NPower - please help!

Options
I've just received my Npower electricity bill from 14 Dec to 12 March. I live with my teenage daughter in a 2 bed end terrace, and we are out of the house from 8am until 5pm every weekday. We have 2 tvs, (very rarely used together), one pc, I only use my washer twice a week, don't use my dryer anymore, have low energy bulbs wherever I can. My heating is gas, my hob is gas. We have the usual fridge, freezer, microwave, sky box running all the time. However, from memory as my bill is at home, we have used 2500+ kwh in this period, with a bill of £338.32. Is this right or does it seem excessive? I have been telling Npower that my meter is wrong (its a very old Heath Robinson thing with dials on it), but they won't come out. I want to ring them this evening and tell them that unless they replace it/test it I won't pay my bill. Can i do this. Will it make a difference if I do? Please help!

How is your water heated? Do you have an electric shower? You should be able to establish what is using the electricity before refusing to pay the bill. The meter is very unlikely to be faulty and if you insist that it is checked, you will be charged something like £70 if it found to read accurately.

Is either the start or end meter reading estimated?

Also have you any debit balance carried forward to that bill.

If your figures are correct you are paying an average of 13.5p for every unit.

NPower bill you for far more primary units in the winter, but even so that seems excessive.

If you post full details of your bill we can comment further. e.g. give

Start meter reading & date Estimated or actual.
