PC Performance measuring tool?

Hi all,

I wish to use a tool to run on a Desktop PC, Server or Laptop and get a rating for the following categories:
- Disk I/O
- CPU Processing

Are there any such utilities that will allow me to do this?

Thanx

AMO

Try holding Control+Alt+Delete at the same time to bring up the Task Manager. Click on the Performance Tab. This will show CPU usage.

  • Just use perfmon . it is built in to windows and you can configure it to track various processes

BurnInTest and PerformanceTest from: https://www.passmark.com are well known packages.

Both have free trials, there are plenty of others, just Google "PC benchmark"

sisoft sandra. It'll let you compare your hardware's performance with other hardware.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

I guess there's two different possibilities, either you want to look at current usage or you want a benchmarking tool to see what the pc is capable of. I think sandra as weegie has suggested can do both essentially (and is very good), another alternative (that I use) is Lavalys Everest (Ultimate for the paid version). For pure benchmarking there's Futuremark's various software apps, the 3dmark stuff for gaming and pcmark for more general performance.

    Thanx for the replies. ;)

Having probs with customers changing the load on their virtual servers and blaming the app. Need to be able to do a quick stress test to prove that the virtual server is no longer as capable as before.
