There was no mention of 10 minimum calls when the offer was made or during booking but light users will certainly need to be aware

If you look at the link you originally quoted http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/public/current/FrameworkImpl10126/2-FrameworkImpl133605.htm Your see:

"2. Customers must make at least 30 chargeable or inclusive calls every three month period or 10 chargeable calls or inclusive calls per month if you are billed monthly."

Woody is correct, the half price connection makes no other special offer availiable.

Yes jhp, i had already booked the engineer when i came across the link somewhere on here and i hastily read it and missed it. It still does not excuse BT for not making me aware of this important point when they were happily offering the half price installation and signing me up.

I was not aware of it until you mentioned it in your post, and if you hadnt i would not have looked into the terms and conditions in greater detail and would not have ultimately discovered the other problems that have now become apparent, so many thanks

  • I have no landline to my house just virgin media cable. Can the installation fee be paid in 3 installments as on the website it states that it is a one off fee. What i am really after is getting a deal with sky but do i have to do a 12month contract with BT but a friend said that he only had to keep the line for 3 months before he changed to sky.
    Any help very appreciated.

    Regards.

Welcome to the MSE forums alfran.

A new contract with BT has to be 12 months. However, that is for line rental and you could opt for Sky Talk CPS as soon as the line is operational.

You can get half-price installation but you have to agree to an 18 month contract and to making 10 calls per month for that
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Alfran, my BT installation fee is being paid over 6 installments, monthly. Also when i was making enquires with Sky over a tv/phone/Broadband package they mentioned to me that they can foot the bill for the BT line installation fee if you informed them before booking it and (obviously) sign up for a sky package. As i decided against going with Sky i didnt get further details on this and just exactly what sort of minimum package you can get away with signing up for with them so i would suggest giving them a call
