Hope anyone can help.
we bought our property in july last year from the northern rock bank (reposessed property). we had a survey done in the begining of june for the property wich gave the house the all clear. after we moved in we noticed that a lot of our new neighbours had contacted insurers regarding the flooding which hit hull on june the 25th, so to be on the safe side i got in a builder to check ours for flood damage. the house has been damaged.
at the time of the flooding the sale hadnt gone through so the house was owned by northernrock so our insurers arnt responsible for it.
i have written three letters to northern rock for them to sort this out for me but have been ignored. can anyone give me advice as to what my next course of action should be as the damp is getting worse and i have a young family.

Can you edit your post so it reads better as its hard to follow at the moment. I am going to make a guess at what you are saying.
You say you bought a property last year from Northern Rock that they had repossessed. However, you have now found damage on the property that was believed to have been sustained before you owned it. Your insurance company wont cover you because it happened before you owned it and you want Northern Rock to pay for it.
If that is correct then Northern Rock have no responsibility to pay it. You bought the house and its your property. If you have since found a problem, then you have to pay for it.
You mention you had a survey. Was type of survey was it? Was it mortgage valuation only? A home buyers report or a structural survey?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). This is not a survey and there is little or no protection for you as it only really checks if the property is there and is likely to be suitable to lend against.

They sold it to you and you bought it as seen. It is your responsibility now I'm afraid. With hindsight, you should have paid for a survey.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
