Comodo Firewall Pro is the multi-layered security application that keeps hackers out and personal information in. Built from the ground upwards with your security in mind, this award winning firewall constantly monitors and defends your system from inbound and outbound attacks. Version 3.0 now features a fully fledged Host Intrusion Prevention System to protect your critical operating system files and block viruses and malware before they ever get the chance to install. It features a friendly graphical user interface; highly granular configuration options; easily understood and informative alerts; wizard-based detection of trusted zones and much more. Comodo Firewall Pro delivers enterprise class protection and can be used 'out of the box' - so even the most inexperienced users will not have to deal with complex configuration issues after installation.

  • Thanks for info matty, however I tried the newer version for a very short time. Personally didn't like it in preference to vers 2 to which I have now reverted.

No offence, but this sounds like advertising spam. Existing users should be automatically prompted to upgrade to the latest version anyway, making me think that the only reason to post a message here would be to advertise Comodo to new users.

I disagree - I found that using the default settings, any software already on your PC is allowed full Internet access! Sure, the firewall can be configured to be secure, but this is far from ideal for novice users, and counterintuitive to the technically-minded! That notwithstanding, Comodo is a very good firewall, although I could only recommend the previous version (2.x) if you don't want to manually configure it.

if you have it installed, you will automatically receive notification of an update, assuming it can do that of course

I've got it installed and didn't receive notification of an update (you can see a note if you open the control panel). So, thanks for the post mattytun

From their web site "Automatic updates for versions 3.0.12.266 and 3.0.13.268 are not available"

And the new version is Vista compatible.

Thanks for the enlightenment.....It's hardly likely that I'm going to read release notes for a firewall that I don't have installed...and as esuhl says, if you have it installed, you will automatically receive notification of an update, assuming it can do that of course (presumably thats in the release notes as well).....It would have been more helpful if you had posted that it fixed slow network performance in some instances....if you reread my post, I did say the title was different...

it might do you good to start reading the odd release note firewalls & antivirus is the most important thing on a computer along with spyware programs i have AVG & COMODO on my pc but i read up on imformation and have played about with a lot of others the more you no the better
