Fence paint sprayer?????

Hi I wonder if anyone has had any experinence with the new battery powered and or indeed any fence spraying device good or bad, as I have alot of 6ftx6ft trellis to paint, any suggestions product/cost wise?? Good or bad, I want to hear, I am not in close proximity to neighbours for overspray issues.
Thanks

I've used the Earlex £30 thing a few times. Beats a brush anytime! Don't paint if there's even a sniff of a breeze though as it goes everywhere.

Not sure a battery sprayer will be up to the job.

Agree with the above. My neighbour used one of these on a windy day and proceeded to paint some plants and a pergola in my garden. Luckily he managed to avoid poisoning my expensive Koi. He was of course blissfully oblivious to the damage caused on my sie of the fence and was very apologetic afterwards. We were adult enough to work it so by all means use these things but just be aware of the damage overspray can cause.

I was going to use a spray to do my fence panels (22 6' x 6'), but now I am a bit concerened.

I also wondered it anyone who has used one of these sprays has any tips on how to avoid overspray on the concrete fence posts?

We used the Wickes pump and spray one, which is good, but as the advice above says its a definate no-no if theres any wind, seriously if an ant farts 4 miles away it'll blow the spray all over your face! Easy to use when there is no wind though, and to avoid overspray just follow the instructions, use a nice smooth, constant action and it'll be OK.
  • Anyone used the cuprinal/ronseal sprayers????

Painting trellis with a sprayer will be particularly difficult regarding overspray. Next doors garden behind? Or into your own property?
Edit- sorry didn't read properly, obviously not next door. wastage due to overspray will be considerable

Yes, I bought one last year - great piece of kit for around £20.

    Suffered with overspray though!

i didnt worry, just painted them as well..... so far a year on ,they look fine, whereas the fence panels have been weather bleached slightly

also i used one of the hand pump sprays, ie you pump it to build up the pressure.

also as said avoid spraying in wind.... otherwise you get a severe does of freckles....... :rotfl:
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

I did some trellis laying down on poly sheet but gave up when puddles formed on the sheet. Fence panels are a different matter, very quick and easy, but make sure you use paint designed for spraying. The brush type paint clogs the jet on the spray even if thinned.
