here's hoping this is the correct board:
my OH rc'd a letter this a.m informing that she has been accepted for the above c.card and could she please sign the acceptance form.
the only problem being: she has never applied to ulster bank.
she did, however apply to john lewis for the partnership card last week.
she will phone later to cancel, but in the meantime I'm feeling pretty uneasy about this.j lewis finan. services are hooked up to hsbc.
does anyone know what's going on?
thanks.

Ulster Bank is run by RBS, nothing to do with John Lewis which as you say is HSBC.
This suggests that someone has fraudulently applied for the Ulster Bank card in your wife's name.
Do not sign the agreement, you need to report this to Ulster Bank and keep a good eye open for any other fraudulent applications, it is possible someone is intending to intercept your mail.
Maybe also a good idea to check your Credit File for any recent applications.0 -

Ulster bank are offering 0% for 0% fee for 6 months. Why not make some money from them first? Doesn't answer the question on why they sent it in the first place, you'd need to ask them to send you a copy of the application - the "RBS" CS people behind Ulster Bank are quite helpful when I've spoken to them in the past."A child of five could understand this. I would, of course. but the limit is just £3k. besides, the real worry is the fact that my OH never applied!!!
oddly enough: after she completed the on-line appl. for j lewis and pressed 'submit' she was immed. taken back to last page of appl. process.

Mine too
If you put it into a Kaupthing Edge account @ 6.5% then you'll still make £ 74 after tax over the 6 months (even more in an ISA).
Will cover the cost of the phone calls or letters to get to the bottom of why they sent you it in the first place."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0
