I've recently set up as an Usborne Books organiser and I have a chance to have a sales stand at weekly family fun days through the school hols. Obviously I need to have public liability insurance for this. If you do 'Usbah' or similar product ranges at events like this, what arrangements do you have for cover? Can anyone recommend a good value provider?
Thanks in anticipation...

Contact HO for a copy of the 'blanket' insurance as we are all covered by that:beer:0

Thanks Sarah - will do. (Although it took me a while to work out the 'HO' reference and work out that you're 'one of us'.) It will be interesting to see what they say, as my upline has told me that HO doesn't cover us anymore.
cheers!0 -
No problem, they definately covered us last year as they sent me a copy!
Let me know what they say!:D
Good luck0 -
I've just spoken with someone at HO who hadn't heard anything about a change of policy. She told me to email and request it. I'll let you know what happens in the end.
Thanks again.0 -
Can I 'bump' this? There are so many people who do Virgin, Body Shop and other DSA member stands at events around the country. Do your companies cover you or recommend a particular insurance policy, or have you found a policy that covers your needs at an affordable cost? Please share any experience or knowledge you've got on this as I really need to get something sorted out and the companies that I've asked don't really do appropriate policies.0

If it is any help, I spoke with our local organiser who runs the stalls during weekend open air events here and they arrange the public liability for the entire site. Rent of a stand includes public liability insurance, so ask at the venue before deciding what extra cover you require, if any.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I work for an insurance broker. The main events insurance provider we use is http://www.events-insurance.co.uk/
You can get quotes and buy online0 -
I'm another Usborne rep and we've been chatting about insurance on another forum recently and the upshot is that we are not covered by the Usborne policy, it's just a tool to get us a booking - the following came from a H/O email...
"As part of Usborne Publishing, Usborne Books at Home has Public Liability Insurance which we allow Organisers to use to secure bookings for events. However, this insurance covers the company and not individual Organisers. As an independent Usborne Organiser, it is your responsibility to assess the risk and take out the appropriate insurance to cover your business.
I have attached the Usborne Books at Home Public Liability Insurance Certificate but you may only use this to book an event, and not as proof of your insurance."
I'm about to book up and big show and am now on the hunt for a decent policy and risk assessment record.:jAvon Rep since C18 2008 (Sales Leader since C7 2009) and Usborne Rep since March 2008:j0 -
Thanks Lozza B! I suspect that you and I might have 'met' on another forum, where I've said more than my money's worth on the insurance issue!
(I'd wave if only I could find those smilies!)0
