I have just ordered a new Dell laptop to replace my old packard bell G1350, I wanted something lighter and more portable.
I spent last night taking off old programmes etc from the old laptop in order to sell on ebay, but does anyone know of a free software that will remove personal data. Obviously I want to leave all what was originallty on the machine.
Thanks in advance

cant you do a full reinstall from the recovery disk/partition, and allow it to reformat the disksmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

A reformat will not stop people if they really want to get at your data. I would recommend dban, it will make it much harder for anyone to find anything on the disk afterwards. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

yes but that will wipe the whole disk, the op wants to leave it as it was when he bought it, which i presume is similar to a clean windows installsmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

delete all your personal files (or ideally restore from recovery disk/partition), then run these one after the other (tick all the boxes).
