Looks like its true. They let me send 5 messages and now its saying I do not have enough credit to complete this SMS. What a shame....looked too good to be true.

    T & Cs state:

New users can try our service for free for a total of 5 sms.

Register your account and buy a minimum of 10 EUR credit in order to send free sms to all countries on the sms rate list, listed as ''Free'' for a period of 3 months.

    Limitations:
    • Maximum 15 free sms per seven days, measured per username and unique IP address. Unused free sms cannot be taken to the following week(s).
    • After three months you have to buy credit again to send free sms
    If exceeded default rates apply.
  • Does anyone know how much the 'default rate' for a text is when you run out of free texts? Can't find it anywhere on the site.

Are there any alternatives that do actually allow FREE text messages to be sent with your own number displayed?

I am not sure what voip sms service is but I use www.18185.co.uk for my landline calls and they also let me add my mobile number to the account and I can send text messages for 1p and they show my mobile number. You have to send them from the 18185 website so I dont know if this is what you are looking for.

cozza, you can send SMS to mobiles in Turkey using 18185.co.uk.

    http://www.18185.co.uk/sms.php

Click Edit on the menu bar, click Find on this Page enter Turkey in the Find: box then click Next.

Voipcheap charge about a third of a penny (0.050c) for sending SMS to Turkey.

If you're happy paying a penny for texting then maybe you could try 1899.
