Genuine free sms over voip with own number as sender

Is there any genuine voip sms service whereby you can send a text, and have it sent as if it came from your mobile, so the receiver can reply to it (without ads), something like voipcheap, but without the charge, which their site claims is free?

  • I have been using VOIPCHEAP to do just that, and ive never paid a penny, have you downloaded the VOIPCHEAPCOM Client? Why do you say they charge? What have they tried to charge you for? The only thing that they charge for is calls, sms is free.
  • wow free sms thanks.

Every sms I have sent has been charged
Not one of them has said this is free after sending, and my balance decreases with each sms. This has happened as soon as I downloaded the software and sent my first text.
  • Thanks, just downloaded it - I've been looking for something like this for ages. The SMS are all free for me - I haven't added any credit, so my balance shows as zero, and I can send all the free texts I want! :cheesy:
  • Maybe setup another account for sending texts? I havent added credit either and so I havent been charged for the texts I have sent (quite a few I would say).

I cant see them charging you for sending texts if you add credit? Surely then no one would! Did you sign up for the service before they started advertising the free sms?
Maybe you have added a premium add on to the service? IE Are you sending from a voipin number? Or schedule the sending instead of sending now.. I dont get why they are charging you? Unless you have gone over their 'Fair Use Policy' but you said you have never had a free sms?

    thankyouuu
:T Thanks to all lovely MSE'rs - you are great friends :T
  • Download software HERE or send from the site http://www.voipcheap.com

You can send free sms messages to any phone in the world (see here)

As long as you can accept text messages you can use your number as the sender (verification needed), covers all networks, and you get replies straight to your mobile.

This is fantastic! Thanks mate! I wonder if there are any any mobile applications so u dont have to go on a computer (ie use WAP/GPRS) to send free messages?
  • I have used the 'on site' sender on my N95 .. just to test, I would only use when sending lots of the same message (like party invites etc) as its easier using my allocated free texts. But if you dont have many free texts on your contract, or on PAYG with free gprs or wap mins then it would be good!

I had to add credit before they confirmed my mobile as the sender of the text.
10 euros, and every single text I have sent since then has not been free, it has come off my credit balance, I downloaded and installed the program for the first time, a few days ago, and I have been charged for every single text, I am fully aware that their website says FREE, FREE, FREE sms but I have been charged for every single sms text, which is why I asked for alternatives.
