My mouse locks up....

I am having problems with my mouse locking up. I have a laptop and thought that it was perhaps the integrated touch control mouse that was dicky. I bought an external one but the same thing happens. I had a guy to look at the set up and he said he has reprogrammed the computer. Don't know if he even did anything about the mouse as it is still doing it. Sometimes I don't think he really listens to my problems as it's not the first time he has said he'd cured a problem and I still end up with the same things happening. When the mouse locks up/freezes I cannot use any method of shutting down, like cont/alt/del I just have to switch the thing off. I lose what I am doing and it can cause me hours of work. Is there anything I can do for myself to cure the problem?? I would be so grateful for any suggestions.
Keep on trucking!

When the mouse freezes it's worth checking if the PC has actually frozen or just the mouse. You can do this by pressing the Windows Key on your keyboard, if the start menu pops up then it's just your mouse. If not, then the whole PC has frozen and it's more serious.
If the whole PC is freezing, it could be overheating, or it could be a driver problem, or various other things. Do the test first and then post back.
Russ- Google is your friend, use it :rolleyes:0 -
It is the computer that freezes up as I have tried the test, Russ. I asked the guy who fixes it if it could have been overheating as it seems to get very hot to me. It is the first laptop that I have had so don't know what to expect.Keep on trucking!0
