Just out of interest how log have you been with them?Looking to have around £1600 per month paid in, overdraft not a necessity but would be nice to have a buffer zone!

  • Well I have just got the reply from alliance and leicester,

Thank you for applying for an Alliance & Leicester Premier Direct Current Account.

We have carefully considered your application and regret that on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful.

  • I have had my current account with Alliance & Leicester for about 3 years and have a history of bad debt. I started with a basic cash account (electron card) and cheque book. The account then got upgraded to a Visa debit card and optional overdraft.

I see that you had applied for a Premier Account and therefore it might be worthwhile applying for a basic current account with them and then after a couple of months asking for an upgrade in card and an overdraft.

I guess the Premier Account might be reserved for people with no history of arrears etc.
