No Proof of NCD

I am going to pay for car insurance for my son, on a monthly basis, (I cannot afford to pay in full up front). Until very recently we were estranged from one another! He does not have proof of NCD as he was insured as a named driver on his step dad's (who has moved abroad) policy.
My son is 21 in June, has had no claims or convictions and owns a 1.4l Peugeot 207 which is 2 years old.
How can I get a good deal based on the above.

You can't do much more than use screenscraper sites or get on the phone and actually call companies....the latter being my preferred method.

Also he won't have any NCD as he was a named driver on a policy. Usually the only way to get named driver NCD taken into account is if your son took out a policy with the co who his stepdad was insured with. Then that is an introductory offer which usually only lasts for the first year.
