Wow you sound a d**k! What is the problem with someone replying to a post, and 'possibly' NOT realising it is 2-3 years old??? This is a site for people to search for ideas and solutions to save money, isn't it? Why on earth would you stupidly think he/she was 'Sticking their awe in' as you said? Well I am trawling posts as I have problems with my halogen bulbs blowing.....am I sticking my awe in, or am I just after a solution? You clearly have a chip on your shoulder or something. Sigh!!!!!!!!!!!
You have definitely decided to charge in on your first post...

I realize I'm a little late to the party but in trying to resolve my problems with halogen bulbs constantly blowing, I came across this forum. I thought I'd add my 2 cents, not sure what that is in old money.
My lights are outside security lights, 110v 100w, installed as a solar activated pair. They blow regularly every few days.
The manufacturer of the lamps now says that when one bulb blows the power surge to the other bulb immediately weakens it causing it to blow soon. They said that just replacing one bulb is a never ending cycle, when one blows replace all on the same circuit.
Sounds like this could be an expensive proposition for people with many kitchen lights etc. but I hope the advice is helpful, if late.0 -
They might not be in fashion, but I'd rather have a fluorescent tube light in the kitchen. They light a whole average size kitchen with less watts than one of those awful halogen bulbs, they don't get dangerously hot (warm at most), plus the bulbs are cheap and last 10-20,000 hours, depending on the brand. I have some in heavily used fixtures from the 1990s that still work, so I think this is a realistic life span claim.0
