    Sounds good and cheap in principle...... subject no doubt to huge excesses. But hey I suspect that's something the insured will have to shoulder.

    The only part of the Policy wording that worries me is this:
    If there is any other insurance in force which covers the same loss, damage or liability as this
    insurance, we will only pay our proportional share of the claim.

    But the website does say this:
    The policy will be in the name of the young driver, and any claim arising will not affect their parent's policy or No Claims Bonus.

    So if you take out a Provisional Marmalade Policy, drive around with your Dad, have an accident and total the car, then this Policy could theoretically only pay out 50% and the remaining 50% payout might need to be paid out by Dad's own policy which would lead to him losing NCD and paying the excess under his own Policy. :confused: Maybe the only time we'll find this out is when a claim is made?

    That is actually quite common in nearly all insurance policies.

    It modifies the common law position (which is that whatever insurer is presented with the claim pays it) and is known as the contribution clause.
